Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski is something different. Currently short for words but I’ll update this description. UPDATE: still short for words, but Volk is something different. Complete faith in his preparation going into this one, but Volk is someone that puts himself in the worst situations to improve his skill. He added Craig Jones (ADCC medalist the last couple ADCCs) to his camp before the Ortega fight and has been improving the level of his grappling ever since. Very little MMA fighters have this level in training, and it showed when Volk was able to repeatedly stand up from Islam’s relentless Dagestani pressure. Many people thought he won the fight despite Islam getting the nod on the night, but regardless of who you believed to be the victor, this Volkanovski performance will withstand the rest of time.
